The Senior Financial Analyst performs various analyses and reviews in support of the Completion by Design grant and the MDC3 college wide initiative. Develops methodologies, completes analyses, prepares recommendations to evaluate department and discipline efficiencies, and assesses cost of academic and support programs.

  • Develops internal models to identify program costs, including academic, student services and overhead costs using college financial and student data
  • Prepares financial analyses to evaluate the redesign of business processes
  • Prepares financial analyses to evaluate budgets and staffing levels in the context of strategic and operating priorities
  • Compiles information for the preparation of internal reports used to provide benchmarks and college wide standards
  • Assists other constituencies to interpret and use the information included in the cost analyses
  • Reinforces a culture of evidence and data-based decision making
  • Recommends appropriate college wide realignment of account, budgets and positions based on new Completion by Design student service standards and strategic and operating priorities
  • Interfaces with Business Affairs and CBD leadership and coordinate with other CBD functions area heads
  • Provides assistance in the development of strategic cost analysis plan, information dissemination, agenda items and statements for internal and external meetings
  • Creates and implements analytical tools to develop evaluations and measurement standards and improve business processes college-wide
  • Performs other duties as assigned

    Skills / Requirements

  • Masters Degree in Finance, Business Administration or related area and four (4) years of related experience; or a Bachelors Degree in Finance, Business Administration or related area and eight (8) years of related experience
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels in an organization to present information and respond to questions from groups of faculty, staff and administration
  • Ability to work collaboratively with MDC3 personnel and others within the college finance and accounting team
  • Knowledge of College organizational structure, systems, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures highly desirable
  • Working knowledge in complex multi-functional financial analyses and cost accounting techniques and tools
  • Ability to collect, interpret and review a variety of technical accounting and financial data provided in different forms
  • Experienced in the preparation and interpretation of financial and managerial analyses used for decision making
  • Expert proficiency in Odyssey and Microsoft Office applications, to include development of Excel spreadsheets
  • Possess excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
  • Temporary grant funded position through August 31, 2013
