Position Type: Part-Time Support External Position: Yes The Part-Time Theater Production Specialist provides technical and artistic support for all theatrical and musical productions within the theater Designs and constructs sets for use in theater and campus productions Develops budget for the materials needed for set construction Works in conjunction with members of the campus, local schools, agencies, and organizations to produce drawings of proposed sets Designs and coordinates scenery, lighting, and/or sound for various stage productions Makes recommendations for modification of set designs based on safety and financial constraints Operates technical equipment as required Performs a variety of activities common to the construction trades; such as, carpentry, welding, and painting Coordinates set up, strike and storage of stage scenery and properties Reads and creates scale drawings for use in set design Distributes costumes or related equipment and keeps inventory records of item status Inventories costume stock to determine types or conditions of available costuming Performs other duties as assigned Skills / Requirements High School and two (2) years of related work experience All degrees must from a regionally accredited institution Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks Ability to use exceptional creativity in designing set construction Ability to operate basic computer interoffice correspondence Possess excellent organizational skills Possess good interpersonal and communication skills Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule for day, evening, and weekend events Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
