This position coordinates the processing of scholarships directly and indirectly to students, coordinates with Financial Aid Scholarship Coordinator on processing payments for Foundation funds, and provides advanced accounting support to the Director of Finance on closings, audits, and tax filings.

  • Collaborates with the MDC Financial Aid Department on the completion of processing scholarship purchase orders, receipts, and payments for student accounts are accomplished in a timely manner
  • Processes vendor payments, prepares donor reports for program directors, and estimates expendable balances for endowed accounts
  • Prepares, reviews, and maintains weekly donor deposits for the 1,000 account funds at the Foundation
  • Assists director with account reconciliation research and analytical review, prepares special report requests, and oversees work of part-time employees
  • Assists director with annual financial closing and subsequent audit and tax filing by preparing supporting tax schedules, compiles, and prepares reports for college auditors
  • Prepares detailed reports on donation and donors for the Phillip Benjamin Matching Request from the State of Florida
  • Reviews financial reports prepared by the Director prior to issuance
  • Performs other duties as assigned

    Skills / Requirements

  • Associate's degree and four (4) years of experience in responsible administrative and clerical work to include public greeting contact, or any combination of education and experience
  • All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Capability to deal with other people with tact, poise, patience, and courtesy
  • Knowledge and understanding of college organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and College's on-line (Odyssey) finance and payroll systems and Financial Edge
  • Possess strong interpersonal and organization skills
  • Possess excellent communication skills (Oral and Written)
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret reports and documents
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships with students, faculty, and administration
  • Ability to acquire and exhibit comprehensive knowledge of complex Federal, State and institutional financial aid regulations, procedures and directives
  • Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty, and staff
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
