This position is responsible for managing the Operations Database Systems group in the Information Technology department to include database administration; as well as, system programming, troubleshooting, and system management within Enterprise Operations for all database related issues.

  • Supervises the Database Systems group
  • Assists in troubleshooting and technical system support for the database and programming groups including the monitoring and reporting of all system activities
  • Works closely with other IT groups to coordinate current and future plans and activities including coordination and technical assistance to facilitate specific development projects that involve the computing environment, the coordination of software upgrades and the installation of new products
  • Serves as a source of documentation and standards to help direct the activities of IT as a whole
  • Provides operational leadership and project management oversight
  • Oversees activities of outside contractors to ensure that contract terms are timely fulfilled
  • Provides routine management reports
  • Performs other duties as assigned

    Skills / Requirements

  • Masters Degree in Computer Systems or related field and four (4) years of related experience; or Bachelors Degree in Computer Systems or related field and eight (8) years of related experience
  • All educational degrees/earned credits must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Knowledge of related database technologies
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SQL and SAG ADABAS/Natural
  • Proficient written and oral communication skills
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, IT personnel, and District organizations
  • Possess strong project management skills with the ability to ensure completion of department initiatives and recommendations
  • Ability to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Colleges policies and applicable laws
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and/or weekend assignments
  • This function/position has been designated as essential. This means that when the College is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in such positions may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover and continue operations at the College.
