The Job Developer is responsible for the job development component of the displaced homemaker program. This individual provides services, which enables displaced homemakers to achieve the goal of reentering the job market and becoming self-sufficient.

  • Plans and conducts employer outreach activities to identify employer needs and establish employer pipelines
  • Reviews client intakes one-on-one to verify and establish individualized training and job search plans
  • Connects clients with College, community, and government resources to help resolve barriers to employment
  • Coaches clients one-on-one or in small groups in Internet job search, interview, and business networking techniques
  • Identifies and communicates appropriate job leads
  • Conducts post-placement follow-up with employers and clients
  • Works collaboratively with Miami Dade College Student Employment, Career Services, and ACCESS (Disability Services) departments as well as community organizations
  • Maintains accurate, confidential client case files and placement data (electronic and hard copy) in compliance with Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) State of Florida guidelines
  • Performs other duties as assigned

    Skills / Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education, Counseling, or related field and three (3) years of related experience
  • All educational degrees/college credits must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both oral and in writing
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to clients, prospective employers, and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to use analytical skills to provide innovative ideas and suggestions for improvement and possess excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, shore correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective public relations
  • Ability to travel between campuses and within the community
  • Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty, staff, and the community
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
