The IT Business Analyst develops procedures for the solution of a variety of predefined educational problems or systems, and plans and implements computations and processes necessary for computer solutions.

  • Analyzes complex business problems, performs root cause analysis, proposes effective business vision and direction
  • Evaluates technical aspects of customer requests for software and application solutions
  • Develops system requirement specifications
  • Determines and designs clear, obtainable goals and objectives
  • Creates effective policies and procedures
  • Analyzes, troubleshoots and implements corrective measures to maintain an efficient data processing environment
  • Coordinates system testing cycle, issues tracking and resolution
  • Assists technical staff in resolution of work problems related to project specifications
  • Performs other duties as assigned

    Skills / Requirements

  • Masters Degree in a related field of study such as Computer Science, MIS, or Information Systems and three (3) years progressive Business Systems Analyst experience in an Information Technology environment; or Bachelor Degree in a related field of study such as Computer Science, MIS, or Information Systems, and seven (7) years of progressive Business Systems Analyst experience in an Information Technology environment
  • All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X
  • Knowledge of Net, Visual Basic, SQL, XML/HTML
  • Proficiency with business system design, modeling, documentation and analysis techniques
  • Knowledge and experience in project management processes, including: project planning and tracking principles; project risk and issues identification, assessment, tracking, and mitigation
  • Knowledge of business analysis processes and activities, treasury, financial reporting, ERP and/or accounting
  • Working knowledge of project process re-engineering approaches and techniques
  • Knowledge of the current and developing information technology services requirements in a large educational institution
  • Ability to estimate, plan, schedule, organize, coordinate, and execute activities, as well as, ability to apply broad business knowledge and practical experience to the analysis / solution generation process
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
  • Ability to work independently when performing analytical tasks such as design, design processes and user requirements
  • This function/position has been designated as essential. This means that when the College is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in such positions may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover and continue operations at the College
  • Temporary grant funded position through August 31, 2013
