This Faculty member teaches ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) courses in the School of Education within the College.

  • Provides classroom instruction
  • Participates in curriculum development and revision
  • Ensures curricular alignment with state and national standards
  • Supervises field experiences and Service Learning
  • Serves as a resource for faculty members and other program areas
  • Participates on School, Campus and College committees
  • Recruits and advises teacher education students
  • Builds partnerships and collaborates with local schools
  • Participates in grant writing and acquisition of external funding for the School of Education
  • Participates in recruiting, advising, and retaining School of Education students
  • Teaches day, evening, and weekend classes as needed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

    Skills / Requirements

  • Doctorate in ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), Bilingual Education or Curriculum and Instruction is preferred; or Masters Degree in the appropriate field; or Masters Degree with 18 graduate semester hours in the appropriate field; a concentration in reading highly desired
  • All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution of higher education
  • Recency of experience as described by Rule 6A-4.006 FAC, to include at least three days each semester in a P-12 setting
  • Verification of Clinical Supervision training
  • Classroom experience in a setting corresponding to the course(s) to be taught (i.e., ECE-birth to grade 3; ESE-exceptional classrooms; Science education- gr. 6-12 science classes)
  • Experience in college teaching and K-12 classroom teaching, including TESOL or equivalent required at least (3) years of experience
  • Primary consideration will be given to candidates with multi-categorical expertise
  • Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, as well as, must have good time management skills
  • Must possess technology skills
  • Possess excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work well with students, faculty, staff, and the community
  • Must be willing to work on multiple campuses/outreach centers
  • Ability to work in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
  • Start date for this Faculty position will be August 22, 2013
