The Director of the New Student Center is responsible for the Student Development and Success Team and provides leadership in Pre-Enrollment, Testing, and other services related to new students. As a member of the Deans Student Services team, the Director participates in the strategic planning process and works to support the instructional and student service initiatives

  • Directs the creation of dynamic and innovative programs that will facilitate, improve and/or sustain student success at the College
  • Creates a culture that supports student success and support services to the campus and local communities
  • Oversees the supervision and evaluation of personnel, which includes hiring, training, and problem resolution
  • Motivates employees to achieve peak performance
  • Develops and implements an enrollment management program
  • Identifies and tracks, and supports students identified at-risk and the academically talent
  • Manages outreach and enrollment initiatives
  • Utilizes technology to support the planning, implementation and on-going evaluation of Campus recruitment, retention, and transition programs/services
  • Assists with research by assessing changing student demographics and Campus trends to support program design
  • Develops grants to support Campus and Student Services initiatives; and develops and implements assessment plan for student support services and programs
  • Serves on Campus and College committees
  • Participates in the development and implementation of College policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Performs other duties as assigned

    Skills / Requirements

  • Masters degree in Higher Education/Student Affairs Administration/Counseling or related field, five (5) years of relevant administrative experience
  • Al educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to supervise and train assigned staff including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments
  • Ability to direct multi-department technical, creative, and administrative staff
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures: ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
  • Ability to exercise judgment, initiative, and maintain strict confidentiality
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member, and be able to deal effectively and courteously with supervisors, peers and governmental representatives
  • Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management: knowledge and understanding of a range of student life/service issues and concerns
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
