The Corporate and Private Donations Manager is responsible for solicitation and closing of grants and corporate sponsorship, both in cash and in-kind contributions, for programs of the Center @ Miami Dade College, including the Miami Book Fair International (MBFI). Develops a strategy for approaching institutions, private foundations, corporations, or corporate giving programs with appropriate proposals and oversees all fulfillments relating to sponsorship agreements.

  • Secures funds needed for the operation and implementation of Center programs from foundations and corporate sponsors
  • Secures in-kind goods and services needed for the operation ad implementation of Center programs, including but not limited to: food and beverage parties, hospitality, advertising, equipment, venues, printing, air fare, ground transportation
  • Coordinates all of the proposals as well as all on-line applications for funding submitted to corporate sponsors, corporate giving programs, private foundations, and media partners
  • Makes personal visits to potential and confirmed sponsors to promote solid partnerships
  • Attends community events and meetings to promote sponsorship opportunities
  • Maintains good working relationship with all sponsor representatives and organizes
  • Fulfills all benefits of grants and corporate sponsorship agreements to include ticketing, advertising, branding, signage, accessibility, booth space/logistical needs, and valuation reports
  • Works closely with Centers administration to create and describe sponsor benefit levels
  • Prepares and provides relevant documents to potential and confirmed sponsors; such as, letters of agreement, invoices, proposals, benefit summaries or benefit comparisons
  • Creates and maintains sponsor files for each program and each sponsor, including all master databases
  • Prepares extensive MBFI wrap-up report, including data, photographs as well as materials samples, for each sponsor
  • Follows-up on proposals and on-line application submitted
  • Provides development status reports for Executive Director and Director of Operations, as well as MBFI Board of Directors, as requested
  • Promotes Friends of the Fair membership program
  • Performs other duties as assigned

    Skills / Requirements

  • Master's Degree and three (3) years of related experience; or Bachelor's Degree in a related field and seven (7) years of related experience
  • All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Formal training in sponsorship and grant writing techniques
  • Possess strong knowledge of the business and philanthropic communities (local and national)
  • Knowledge of obtaining sponsorships and skill in grant writing
  • Possess excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments
  • Ability to work as part of a team and be detail-oriented
  • Ability to work in high-pressure event atmosphere
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty, staff, and local community
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
