The Assistant Infrastructure Project Manager works closely with other IT and Facilities managers to coordinate all field service efforts and assists the Infrastructure Manager in all tasks related to managing infrastructure projects.
Coordinates and supervises all aspects of a project as directed by the Manager of Communications Systems, often with multiple simultaneous projects of different size and duration
Works closely with other project and site managers to develop and implement best practices and procedures
Provides technical support to solve problems encountered on the field
Assists the site supervisor in realizing changes to the scope of work and documenting change orders
Provides advice and design assistance to building construction professional and tradesmen for specifying and installing building communications entrance facilities and distribution systems
Oversees and manages cabling infrastructure service requests
Coordinates, schedules and assigns contractors to projects, including voice and/or data
Coordinates work efforts of contractors and vendors with College personnel and other IT staff
Oversees the budgeting, invoicing and documentation of infrastructure projects
Provides routine management reports on technical field operations
Works with other IT managers to assess technical requirements of various construction/renovation projects
Performs inspections of work done by subordinates and contractors to ensure adherence to relevant standards and specifications
Participates with other departments in the planning, installation and maintenance of related and connected communications systems
Performs other duties as assigned
Skills / Requirements
Bachelors degree and six (6) years of related experience with two (2) years experience in the network and telecommunications field with an emphasis on design, documentation, and project management. All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
Holds and maintains a valid State of Florida Driver License and provides personal vehicle available as necessary
Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and literate with AutoCad and Visio applications
Ability to read equipment schematics, blueprints, as well as building and underground prints
Thorough understanding of underground plant construction practices as well as familiarity with applicable communication and electric codes
Ability to travel as needed
Ability to work well in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic environment with students, faculty, and staff
Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
